Music Festival Information

Some of our CMS musicians have special performances next week, and I want to give you a little more information about the Pioneer League Band and Orchestra Festival. This event will be right here at Chisholm Middle School, and will feature bands, orchestras, solos, and ensembles from CMS, Hutchinson, McPherson, Prairie Hills (Buhler), and Salina.  The CMS 8th Grade Band and a few select solos/ensembles will be participating. The public is welcome to attend this free event. (There is no school at CMS on the 26th.)

 

Students should wear their regular concert attire (white tops, black bottoms, black shoes and socks).

 

Here is our schedule for Wednesday, April 26:

 

9:30 a.m. Meet at homeroom - Art Room

9:45 a.m. 8th Grade Band's Warm-up in Band Room 
10:10 a.m. 8th Grade Band’s Performance in CMS New Gym 
10:25 a.m. Go to homeroom to put stuff away 
10:30 a.m. Students not performing solos or small groups are dismissed

 

(Students performing in the afternoon may leave then return by 12:30, or pack a lunch if they will be hanging out.)

 

1:00 p.m.  Media Center - Alfie Montano, trumpet solo

1:05 p.m. Media Center - Josh Bergman, trumpet solo

1:50 p.m. Band Room - Jadyn Keel, flute solo

1:50 p.m. New Gym - Mixed Quartet

1:55 p.m. New Gym - Brass Quintet

All-District Band Concert

NEWTON USD 373 ALL-DISTRICT BAND CONCERT 

WHO: All Newton band students in grades 5 through 12 

WHEN: Sunday, May 7, at 5:00 p.m. Meet at 4:30 p.m.; done by 6:45 p.m. 
Program order: 5th grade, 6th grade, 7th grade, 8th grade, NHS Concert Band, NHS Wind Ensemble, Grand Finale 

WHERE: Band Shell at Athletic Park (1st & Grandview) 
In the event of inclement weather, this program will be canceled. After 2:00 p.m. you can check the status of the concert on Facebook ( www.facebook.com/newtonbands). 

WHAT TO WEAR: Nice school clothes appropriate for the weather. Sunglasses are allowed, but no hats please. 

WHAT TO BRING: Instrument & music 

Admission is FREE. Concessions and restroom facilities will be available. 
Family and friends should bring their own seating (folding chairs or blankets).  

NO SCHOOL

NOTICE: There will be NO SCHOOL for CMS STUDENTS ONLY on Wednesday, April 26. We are hosting the Pioneer League Orchestra and Band festival. Any students in band or orchestra will still come to school and will be competing. All other students are excused for that day!!

After School Activities

RAILER POWER HOUR tutoring is held in the library Monday - Thursday from 3:20-5:00 PM. There is bussing available for students who stay until 5:00 PM.

 

CONNECTIONS is held Monday - Thursday from 3:20-5:00 PM. There is also bussing available.
