MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of CMS is to increase academic success, develop broader knowledge and skills in a safe and positive environment and to encourage students to become responsible contributing members of a global society.

Curriculum VISION:

In pursuing academic achievement for all, CMS commits to developing an engaging curriculum comprised of what should be learned, how it will be taught, and how learning will be assessed in order to succeed in a global society.  To attain this vision:

 

  • Students learn to think critically through a relevant and rigorous curriculum.

  • Teams regularly collaborate to develop pre/post assessments and teach consistent content.

  • Teachers use research-based strategies to effectively engage students in learning.

  • Formative and summative assessments will monitor curriculum and student learning which drives effective interventions.

  • All decisions relating to instruction and student learning will be driven by data.

  • 21st century skills are implemented in every classroom.

  • Social, Emotional, Character Development lessons are addressed not only in weekly lessons, but in the moment.

 

Culture for learning VISION:

In pursuing academic achievement for all, CMS commits to building a safe and positive school culture by valuing students as individuals,  providing consistent appropriate levels of support, and celebrating student success. To attain this vision:

 

  • All members of the school community commit to following building wide expectations and policies consistently.

  • Students participate and are actively engaged in their learning and assessment.

  • Faculty and staff provide students with access to opportunities, resources, and support that allow students to meet high expectations for learning in academic, social, and emotional contexts.

  • Faculty and staff teach and guide students to accept increasing responsibility for their learning, decisions, and actions.

  • All members of the school community model essential character traits, including citizenship and responsibility.

  • All members of the school community recognize and celebrate individual and collective efforts and achievements with excitement.

  • All members of the school community are focused on progress and receptive to change.

  • All members of the school community ensure a safe, healthy, and positive environment .

 

Collaboration VISION

In pursuing academic achievement for all, CMS commits to providing time for staff to collaborate in teams and focused professional development for the purpose of improving student learning and professional growth. To attain this vision:

 

  • All staff is committed to developing and contributing to high-performing collaborative teams to better serve and support all students.

  • All staff and students respect and learn from each other.

  • For decision making purposes all staff is focused on four guiding questions:

  • What do we want our students to learn?

  • How will we know if each student has learned?

  • How will we respond when some students do not learn?

  • How can we extend and enrich learning?

  • Schedules will reflect a commitment to collaboration for student learning.

  • All staff is committed to evidence-based decision-making and critical reflection on the results of teaching and learning.

  • Collaborative teams are committed to positive thinking, continuous improvement and professional growth.

  • Collaborative teams will treat each other with courtesy, dignity and respect while maintaining all necessary confidences.

  • Collaborative teams express ownership of learning, through relevant timely goals, with a precise sense of purpose and direction.

 

Family/Community Engagement VISION:

In pursuing academic achievement for all, CMS commits to creating a collaborative culture that provides opportunities to build positive relationships between parents, community, businesses, and school, and maintains open communication at all times.  To attain this vision:

 

  • Parents or Guardians are valued partners in the education of their children.

  • Parents or Guardians are actively engaged by:

    • monitoring their children’s academic performance

    • working collaboratively and positively with staff to enhance their children’s educational experience

    • communicating regularly

  • All members of the school community will regularly and positively communicate with parents through a variety of means

  • An active Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) works collaboratively with the school in order to create a positive learning environment.

  • The Site Council partners with the school in order to develop, build, and maintain community involvement.

  • The school purposefully seeks expertise in the community to enhance the curriculum.

  • The school and community partner to provide essential needs for students.

  • Students are given opportunities to become actively involved in the community.
